Paid and unpaid breaks
When creating a break rule in Buddy Punch, you can set the time spent on the break as paid or unpaid. This lets the system know if break times should be included in payroll hours.
Manual breaks
Employees record their break times by clicking a “start/stop break” button in Buddy Punch. After that, Buddy Punch automatically records the break’s duration on the employee’s timesheet — no clocking in and out is required.
Automatic breaks
With automatic breaks, employees don’t need to click the “start/stop break” button. Instead, the system removes a specified amount of time for breaks from employees’ hours automatically.
Break durations
Enter the amount of time an automatic break lasts, or specify the minimum amount of time an employee has to stay off for a manual break to make sure you adhere to FLSA regulations.
Multiple break rules
Set up manual rules for 15-minute paid breaks and automatic breaks for unpaid 30-minute lunches. Assign all break rules to all employees, or create different break rules for specific employees.
Smart breaks
For automatic breaks, you can also specify how many hours an employee has to work before the break triggers so you can make sure time is only being removed for breaks when required.
