Employees can clock in and out using any internet-connected device. We also have apps for iOS and Android phones/tablets and a ChromeOS app for Chromebooks.
Time clock kiosk
Download the Buddy Punch app to an Apple or Android tablet to create a central time clock kiosk that all on-site employees can use to clock in and out of work.
Employee PINs
If you’re using Buddy Punch on a tablet as a time clock kiosk, employees can punch using unique four-digit PINs to make the process of clocking in/out quick and easy.
Username and passwords
If employees are using the web or mobile apps, they’ll use a username and password to access the platform and clock in/out. They can also stay logged in on their personal devices.
Single sign-on
If you don’t want employees to have to keep track of another username and password, you can enable single sign-on to Buddy Punch with services like Google, Okta, and OneLogin.
QR code punching
If you don’t want to set up a central time clock kiosk or have employees clock in using the mobile apps, you can display a QR code that, when scanned, will clock employees in and out.
Text to punch
If employees are working in the field and don’t have access to the internet or one of Buddy Punch’s mobile apps, they can clock in and out by sending a text message.
Group punch
If employees all start and end work at the same time, you can have a manager, supervisor, or site foreman clock everyone in and out simultaneously using our group punch feature.
Duration entry
If you have salaried employees, our duration entry feature lets them simply enter the number of hours they worked each day so they don’t have to clock in and out.
Automatic timesheets
Effortless timekeeping
Buddy Punch compiles employee clock-in and out data into timesheets for you. All hours are calculated automatically, and administrators and managers can review timesheets anytime.
Timesheet approvals
Employees are prompted to submit their timesheets at the end of each pay period. After they’re submitted, they’re sent to an administrator or manager for review and approval.
Timesheet editing
Administrators and managers can edit timesheets easily when an employee forgets to punch for an entire shift, forgets to clock in when they started work, or forgets to clock out when they left.
Overtime calculations
Choose from more than a dozen overtime types to ensure overtime is identified correctly. Buddy Punch will then recognize overtime hours and calculate the pay for you automatically.
Project tracking
Set up job codes for each of your customers and assign them to employees. When employees clock in, they’ll select the appropriate job code. Then, you can track hours spent on projects.
Locations
Need to track the time worked at your different offices or locations? Simply set up your locations in Buddy Punch, and employees will be prompted to select their location when clocking in.
Employee accountability
GPS on punch
Make sure employees are where they’re supposed to be by capturing their GPS coordinates when they clock in and out. Locations are displayed on timesheets.
Real-time GPS
Use real-time GPS tracking to see where all of your employees are located at any time on a map. You can also view GPS breadcrumbs to see where they traveled during a shift.
Geofences
Set up geofences around each of your worksites or locations. If employees try to clock in or out when they’re not inside of the geofence, the app will block the action.
IP address locks
For office employees, restrict clocking in and out to when employees are on an authorized IP address (connected to your company’s Wi-Fi) to prevent off-site punching.
Photos on punch
Require employees to take a picture of themselves when they clock in and out to prevent buddy punching. Admins and managers can review these photos on timecards.
Facial recognition
By using Buddy Punch with Face ID, you can require employees to verify their identities with facial recognition technology before they’re permitted to clock in or out of work.

Punch rounding
Set up rules where punches are automatically rounded up or down. Increments range from two minutes to 30 minutes, so there are plenty of options to meet your business’s needs.

Employee self-service
Employees can view their schedules in Buddy Punch anytime. They can also notify you of their availability so you can avoid scheduling them for days and times when they’re unavailable.

PTO accruals
Manually add in PTO accrual amounts for employees, or set up rules for automatic accruals. Employees can view their PTO totals at any time in the Buddy Punch app.
Time off requests
When employees need time off — whether it’s paid or unpaid — they can request that time off in Buddy Punch. Requests are then sent to managers to review and approve or deny.
PTO on timesheets
After an employee submits a paid time-off request and it’s approved, their PTO hours are automatically added to their timesheets so you can ensure they get paid for that time.
